When I first stepped into the field of digital marketing, I had no idea how broad and fun it could be. Like many students, I started with curiosity. I wanted to understand how brands found a way to target me with the right ads at the right time, and I went from curiosity to a passion for the work. At the beginning, I simply wanted to learn the basics. Everything from social media, email marketing, search engine optimization, etc. At first, it felt like a lot of information to process. The difference is that I learned digital marketing isn’t about mastering everything all at once, it’s about learning bit by bit. I remember my first small project: I created content for a local businesses’ Facebook page. It wasn’t a ton of engagement, but I remember feeling excited to see people respond to my work. The whole experience gave me the confidence to continue.
One of the biggest takeaways I realized is that digital marketing is always changing. Algorithms change, trends shift, and tools are emerging on a daily basis. At first, I felt overwhelmed by it all. At some point, I understood that all of the change is what makes digital marketing exciting. The change keeps creativity alive.
At this point in my learning, I see more than just digital marketing. It’s about building friendships through the marketing of real products with genuine people.
